The Spooky Goofy Halloween Show will be presented at the Alpine Theatre on Friday October 10 at 6:00pm and two shows Saturday October 11 at 3:30pm and 6:00pm.
Written for younger children ages 4 and up, this children's theater production is an alternative to traditional haunted events. The show is filled with magic, clowning, puppetry, juggling, bubbles, and special guest "Goofy Ghost" will make an appearance. The audience is invited to stick around afterwards and learn how to make balloon animals.
It all happens at the Alpine Theater in Ripley, WV (210 W. Main St.). Advance tickets are $10/adults, $8/kids 12 and under and can be purchased at the Ripley Convention & Visitors Bureau (115 N. Church St, Suite 4, Ripley • 304-514-2609).
Special guest headliner Greg McMahan, "Mister Greggy" from Atlanta, GA will present his "Goofy Magic Show" filled with magic, clowning, puppetry and some "serious fun".
During the show, the audience will meet Rocky Raccoon, Mister Greggy's furry puppet pal. Rocky loves to try circus tricks, or as Greg calls them, "fearless feats featuring super sensational circus skills". Robert Drake, artistic director at the Academy Theatre in Atlanta, says "you'll be amazed at the magic effects, they surprise everybody". Children from the audience will be asked to help Mister Greggy with some of his tricks, because, as Greg confides, "I usually can't figure them out by myself".
Local eccentric "Professor Bubblemaker" utilizes bubbles and magic while wearing steampunk style attire. During his shows, John Gradwohl of Parkersburg says "crowds are enthralled and amazed" when they witness my "Bubble Ballet", which features bubbles of all sizes and even bubble sculptures.
Parkersburg's very own professional circus juggler "Tricky Chaz" will present his act perfected thru years of touring with various circuses. "Audiences love the daring displays of extreme balancing" says performer Charles Watson. During the show, you will have a chance to try some plate juggling and be a part of the performance.
Immediately following the Spooky Goofy Halloween Show will be Ripley's 1st Annual "Do You Believe?" Ghost Walk which will depart from the Alpine Theatre at 7:30 on Friday Oct 10 and Saturday Oct 11. Suitable for older children and adults, the Ghost Walk is a one-mile jaunt though historic downtown Ripley.
Award winning Storyteller Granny Sue will lead the walk with ghostly appearances by members of the Jackson County Players. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
